Rhine Delta Americana
In the seventies of the last century, singers and songwriters like Neil Young and John Fogerty dropped some seeds in the mud of the Rhine Delta. Out of those seeds grew the music of Dif and jd decker a.k.a. The Understate Men. They are Dutch-No-Doubt, but their music is American! Like Neil Young, The Understate Men could never choose between acoustic folk music and electric rock, though currently they are going through an acoustic phase. Our EP Renegade King was released in january 2009, and we are playing acoustic sets using guitars, mandolin and banjo. On this site you'll find some more stuff about us. Recording sessions
We are recording songs for our fourth cd. It will be our most acoustic sounding album until now. Songs about Dif's need for reading glasses or jd decker's reflections on the troubles in Afghanistan. We're taking it slow, so you'll have to be patient. However, one of jd decker's songs featured live on air on Uruzgan FM on February 10, 2010 and you can listen to the song on the Music page. Uruzgan is the Afghan province where part of the Dutch military is working hard and getting shot at.
